The great ceramist Sandro Soravia

He was an artist endowed with great sensitivity who moulded ceramics, but also wood and bronze, into works intriguing for their figurative beauty, for the tactile sensation of the material. His works invite to reflect on the human condition, in the search of balance and harmony, giving life to an emotional involvement. Soravia had learned the technique of ceramics, following a solidly “Italian” path: first in Gubbio, where he acquired the ancient technique of lustre ceramics, then in Albisola, he was fascinated by the chromatic expressiveness of terracotta painted with polychrome enamels, made brighter by the natural contrast between sky and sea. Staying in Liguria, he was a convinced supporter of the cultural and handicraft value of Albisola Ceramics, giving wide impulse and visibility to the Albisola Ceramists Association.
