Wonderful relationships at Homo Faber 2022

10/04/2022 - 01/05/2022

On the occasion of Homo Faber 2022, the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte is called upon to curate, in the evocative setting of the Sala dei Cipressi, with the scenic design of the architectural firm Pedron & Associati, an exhibition dedicated to the "wonderful relations" between Italy and Japan, celebrated through an extraordinary selection of works by great Italian masters of art inspired in various ways by Japanese art, aesthetics and customs. The fact that these special relationships, historically attested, are still alive and fertile is amply demonstrated by the works on display, which are the result of the mastery, talent, and design wisdom of 19 exceptional Italian masters and ateliers, selected by the Foundation on the basis of their indisputable expertise and adherence to the theme of the works presented. The homage to Japan is variously articulated, on the basis of themes, inspirations, materials, decorations, types, processing techniques, which give rise to works rich in quotations and at the same time very personal reinterpretations. Many of the most representative sectors and materials of high Italian craftsmanship are represented: from wood to silver, from glass to porcelain to fabric, from Florentine commesso to coral to lacquer, from mirrors to mosaics, from ceramics to metals and papier-mâché, from illustration to figure theater. In some cases, the works are born from the successful collaboration with some Japanese masters. A true gallery of masterpieces of the Italian artistic crafts, whose creators have been able to pay homage to Japanese art with intense charm, declining the great lesson in the sign of excellence and originality. www.homofaber.com
