Ending June 4th, 2023, and located in the newly restored and reopened to the public Accademia Carrara in Bergamo we find the Cecco del Caravaggio. L’allievo modello exhibition, dedicated to the painter (born Francesco Boneri, 1585-1620) who was a student of one Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. The artworks honor the Lombard artist, who followed his master's teaching by adopting a unique and often nonconformist style. His canvases, aside from their emblematic value, provide evidence of the true historical form and function of clothing and crockery: jugs, pouring bowls made of earthenware, ceramic, glass or copper, and flasks clad with different linings, meant to hold oil, wine, water, medicinal substances, or even the glues and colors required to craft musical instruments such as flutes, violins, and tambourines, depicted as they are being assembled or already completed.
