The Museo Civico Medievale of Bologna hosts, until April 18, 2022, the exhibition Vetri dal Rinascimento all’Ottocento. La donazione Cappagli Serretti per i Musei Civici d’Arte Antica, which presents about 150 precious pieces of glass collected with passion and competence by Bruno Cappagli and Liana Serretti. It is a large and articulated collection but, as often happens, the start was accidental, thanks to a small vase of Murano glass. Since then, the collection has grown in size and includes valuable objects, objects for everyday use, devotional objects, perfumery objects and spice objects that attest to the complex history of this material. Glass enthusiasts and scholars will be able to observe Venetian objects of great value up close, with a beauty that always amazes, but they will also be able to get to know the glass of Altare, Tuscan glass and a selected variety of lesser-known items made in Italy by furnaces in Bohemia, Silesia, England, Holland and Spain. In a close comparison, affinities and differences emerge.
