Di tutti i colori. Stories of ceramics in Montelupo, from the “Fabbrica di Firenze” to industry and design

The art of Montelupo’s master ceramists is the theme of the exhibition currently on view at the Museum of Ceramics and in Palazzo Podestarile. More than 120 works united by color, the result of constant chromatic research on the pigments which characterize the production of the so-called "Fabbrica di Firenze,” that is, works realized in the workshops and kilns of Montelupo, commissioned by the city’s most important families. It is a "story of ceramics" unfolding across centuries. The second section of the exhibition presents a selection of ceramics from the 1800s and 1900s tracing a path through the most refined tradition of majolica, with narrative themes of classical and mythological tradition (historiated) or of 16th-century inspiration (Raphael and the Della Robbia), up to innovations introduced from the 1950s through the 1970s.
