The Mariano Fortuny Museum in Venice dedicates an entire floor to the works of eclectic personalities

Since the end of October, the second floor of the museum has been presenting never-before-seen objects, hitherto kept in the museum's storerooms, that pay homage to the imaginative personality of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo (1871-1949). What emerges is a fascinating, eclectic, brilliant character capable of alternating, with extraordinary elasticity, the activity of artist with that of set designer, designer and skilled entrepreneur, always detecting a surprising and singular character. The new exhibition, which includes the library with more than 150 photo albums, places special emphasis on the art of engraving, a genuine collecting passion of the Fortunys, father and son, but also implemented with innovative experiments to achieve optical contrasts especially in the techniques of etching and aquatint. An itinerary entitled In the Atelier House of Mariano Fortuny, sponsored by Muve Educational, will introduce students to the knowledge of this artist and the museum dedicated to him.
