Le stanze del vetro is an initiative by Giorgio Cini Foundation and Pentagram Stiftung, which promotes the study and practice of the twentieth-century and contemporary art of glass-making. This long-term cultural project involves the opening of a new and permanent exhibition space on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore for the purpose of housing monographic and collective exhibitions showcasing the works by international artists who use glass as their main medium. Showing from September 11, 2016 to January 8, 2017 is the exhibition Paolo Venini and his Furnace. On display, 300 works which explore Paolo Venini’s creative talent and that of the artists who worked with him over the years, including Gio Ponti, Piero Fornasetti, Massimo Vignelli and Tobia Scarpa.
