EventsThe glass objects designed by Laura de Santillana, an artist who from a very young age assimilated the art of the master glass blowers in the Venini glassworks, stand out for an evanescent elegance combined with the severity of geometric form, which becomes an abstraction of thought. The exhibition Soffi(Breaths), presented until 24 November 2019 in the artist's studio in Venice, unites in an unusual combination the works of Franco Mazzucchelli, made of inflatable PVC, expression of a dialogue between reality and artifice. The protagonist is "breath," a metaphor of vitality, which shapes these so very different materials. In Milan, in the spaces of the Gaggenau Designelementi Hub, the exhibition ab -l'Essenza dell'Assenza(ab - The Essence of the Absence) will remain on view until 15 November, presenting large glass eggs (Space Eggs), emblem of the birth and rebirth of new forms and thoughts, as already indicated by the two letters of the alphabet and the Latin preposition referring to the concept of beginning or detachment. The two exhibitions become a delicate farewell from the artist who has recently left us, but the emotions that she has transmitted remain as solid and impalpable as glass.
