Until 10 September, the Ca 'd'Oro in Venice is hosting the exhibition Serenissime Trame. Carpets from the Zaleski collection and Renaissance paintings, produced by the Polo Museale del Veneto and the Fondazione Tassara of Brescia. Carpets, painting and collecting are the three themes presented by the exhibition, which revolve around Venice, bridge to the Orient and cradle of Renaissance painting. In their sacred and profane iconography, it is precisely the paintings by European Renaissance artists that document the spread of these luxury items. Offering a splendid setting for the exhibition, the extraordinary late-Gothic Venetian palazzo that pays tribute to the collecting passion of Giorgio Franchetti, founder of the Ca’ d’Oro State Museum, who concentrated his youthful interests on carpets and nourished a marked interest in the decorative arts.
On May 27, 1923, the Salsomaggiore spa complex, designed by Ugo Giusti and decorated by Galileo Chini, whose 150th birth anniversary falls on this day, was inaugurated.
