The Art Crafts schools are restarting, an important appeal!

The joint action of the Italian Schools of Arts and Crafts launched by ALMA, the International School of Italian Cuisine and supported by Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte, continues with tenacity and with good results to date. The appeal of this network of institutes of excellence to national and regional institutions for a reopening in the near future, based on the evidence of the specificity of teaching, necessarily based on practice and laboratory, is bearing excellent fruit, and several Schools have already resumed their activities in Regions such as Lombardy, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna, Campania. Returning to teaching as soon as possible in full compliance with safety regulations: this is the theme of the request carried out by the network, in dialogue with regional institutions. This has led to the effective recognition of the Appeal and its motivations, vital for the very survival of these Schools, repositories of a unique know-how in the world. More than twenty prestigious educational institutions have joined the network with Alma: from the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala to the Accademia Nazionale dei Sartori, from the Politecnico Calzaturiero to the Scuola di Restauro di Palazzo Spinelli, from the Scuola dei Mosaicisti del Friuli to the MAC in Biella, from the Villa Fabris Association to the Scuola del Cuoio and the Arsutoria School, to name but a few. The reopening of many of these Schools, the flagship of our training system and the basis of our best made in Italy, is a beautiful sign of hope and recovery after the crisis, and we hope that in a short time all Regions will align themselves in welcoming this fundamental Appeal in support of our great know-how and its transmission.
