Pierres précieuses

The collaboration between the National Museum of Natural History in Paris and Van Cleef & Arpels continues with the exhibition Pierres précieuses - from September 16, 2020 to June 14, 2021 - which recounts the multi-millennial history of minerals revealing the ability that Man has demonstrated for centuries to enhance their splendor. Through an immersive journey and a constant dialogue between science and creation, Pierres précieuses links around 360 minerals, gems and art objects from the Museum's prestigious collection with over 250 jewellery creations from the heritage collection of the Maison Van Cleef & Arpels. On the occasion of the exhibition, Van Cleef & Arpels presents a unique object, specially created for the event: the Rocher aux merveilles (the Rock of Wonders). In relation to the theme of the exhibition, the rough stones are juxtaposed with nine jewellery creations in a precious painting that is the fruit of man's imagination and work.
