Events
The activity carried out by Piero Tosi (1927-2019) took place in collaboration with established directors, such as Franco Zeffirelli and Luchino Visconti, and with the theatrical tailoring conducted by Umberto Tirelli, with whom he collaborated for films of great charm and which, even today, still retain their charm. Tosi's work focused on inventiveness and creativity and the clothes, made with carefully selected fabrics in the weave and colour range, and with particular attention to details and accessories. These had to express the character and role of the characters: they were not secondary scenic elements, but compresses the entire theatrical or cinematographic narrative. In 2013 Piero Tosi received the Oscar for "incomparable costumes [that] go beyond time", capable of combining perfection and elegance with historical and ethnic reality, in a perfect synthesis made possible by sartorial expertise.
On May 27, 1923, the Salsomaggiore spa complex, designed by Ugo Giusti and decorated by Galileo Chini, whose 150th birth anniversary falls on this day, was inaugurated.
