From 29 February to 21 June, at the exhibition halls of Villa Sucota (CO), you can visit the exhibition "Deep Velvet", which tells the story of the fabric. A moment to dive into the depths of the fabric, entering a fascinating and poetic narration of a material that tells an ancient story. A story that moves with time, but also through people, tastes and, above all, experimenters who have been able to interpret the changes and turn them into successful solutions. One of these was Mariano Fortuny: in the exhibition you can admire two velvet panels, a cloak, a hood and a pair of cotton cloths, characterized by the use of the experimental metallic pigment printing technique, with decorative motifs inspired by medieval and Renaissance tradition. An opportunity to admire the innovative solutions of one of the greatest designers and stylists of the last century.
On May 27, 1923, the Salsomaggiore spa complex, designed by Ugo Giusti and decorated by Galileo Chini, whose 150th birth anniversary falls on this day, was inaugurated.
