Until 24 November, the city of Ravenna is being enlivend with events, exhibitions and meetings organized for the 6th edition ofthe “Contemporary Mosaic Biennial”: many institutional sites will host site-specific installations and exhibitions, thus becoming exceptional galleries where ancient and contemporary art meet in continuous and constant dialogue. The MAR – Museo d’Arte della Città di Ravennais currently hosting two major exhibitions showing how mosaic art lends itself to the most diverse interpretations: "Chuck Close. Mosaics" and "Riccardo Zangelmi. Forever Young" featuring mosaic portraits next to tapestries, photographs and prints; Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste is hosting "Opere dalMondo" (Works from the World), an exhibition-competition curated by AIMC - International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists; while Classis - Museo della Città e del Territoriois presenting"Tessere di mare.Dal mosaico antico alla copia moderna" (Sea Tiles. From Ancient Mosaics to Modern Copies), an exhibition of Roman floor mosaics with marine subjects. Thanks to this event, Ravenna, the city of mosaics par excellence, lives an ongoing dialogue between past and present thanks to fascinating, suggestive contemporary solutions.
