Applied arts, crafts and industrial design in Tuscany from 1944 to 1966

The 6th Notebook of the Documentation Center on Contemporary Architecture in Tuscany (Cedacot) has just been published, collecting the proceedings of the conference held in Florence at the Academy of Fine Arts and the former Manifattura Tabacchi on November 18 and 25, 2021. The volume collects papers by various scholars who have long been interested in the events of the Florentine twentieth century, seen from different angles consistent with their own training. The issues of figurative culture, architecture, artisanship and more modern design in the complex years of postwar reconstruction up to the economic progress of the 1950s-1960s were addressed. A vibrant city emerged, in open contrast between the deep-rooted ties to the Renaissance tradition and the desire to open up to new horizons. Architettura, arti applicate e industrial design negli anni della Ricostruzione postbellica toscana (1944-1966), curated by Mirella Branca, Mauro Cozzi, Pisa ed. ETS 2022
