Vetreria Artistica Archimede Seguso

When he started his own glassworks at the end of World War Two, Archimede Seguso was already a successful master glassmaker, well-known, since the 1920s, for his sophisticated animal-themed creations. In the 1930s, he created wonderful bullicante and pulegoso glass vases and he specialized in the massello-style sculpture, and then, in the 1950s, he experimented with different glassmaking techniques and reached the height of his craft with the creation of the merletto pattern. Since Archimede’s death in 1999, his son Gino has been carrying on his father’s legendary name with a wide range of artistic artifacts (chandeliers, furnishing objects and collectible items, vases, bathroom furniture, animals, tableware), strictly made by hand or blown as per tradition, without using moulds.

Scuola Bubacco

It is hard not to find him intent on creating one of his wonderful works of art at his workshop/museum in Murano. Today, just like in 1971, when he was barely fourteen years old and created his first works inspired mostly by classical art, Greek-Roman and Byzantine art, medieval and Renaissance theatre and Commedia dell’Arte.
