EventsAt the Cini Foundation in Venice, LE STANZE DEL VETRO dedicate an exhibition to the American artist Thomas Stearns (1936-2006), who in the early 1960s collaborated with the Venini glassworks. The young American artist, following his arrival in Murano, worked assiduously with the master glassmaker Checco Ongaro, who managed to understand and implement Stearns' projects, which were not easy to "translate" into glass due to the asymmetries in the drawings and the use of complex techniques,such as incalmo (different colors joined together), or the union of different types of glass and the use of colors extraneous to Venetian tradition. The exhibition, entitled Thomas Stearns at Venini, on view until 5 January 2020, presents unique works, many of which have never been exhibited in public, and others, such as lamps or cylindrical vases, which have been featured in Venini's catalogue with great success.
