The Venetian Glass Archive, established in 2012, which is based on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, was recently moved to the recently restored 16th-century Sala Messina, located in the Cypress Cloister next to the exhibition aera "Le Stanze del vetro," which has been the scene of important exhibitions for years. The Glass Study Center houses a very large archive with more than 200,000 documents that testify, through plans, drawings, sketches, hand-drawn production catalogs, photographs, and administrative papers, to the history of 20th-century Venetian glass. The material comes from the archives of glassworks, from collections related to glassmaking or even found by chance. The archive, connected with the Manica Lunga Library, offers the opportunity for in-depth studies but also for new discoveries in Venetian glassmaking, which can reveal unpublished news, confirmations but also open new horizons of investigation.
