The Poldi Pezzoli Ateliers

The Poldi Pezzoli Ateliers, artisan workshops for adults realized by the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte in collaboration with the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan, are proposing three appointments, between November and January, during which master craftsmen will put their knowledge at the disposal of the participants, who will learn to make a small artefact. The meetings will focus on the multifaceted and brilliant figure of Leonardo as craftsman: goldsmith, cabinetmaker and calligrapher. The cycle takes place in conjunction with and on the occasion of the major exhibition "Leonardo and the Madonna Litta," presented at the Poldi Pezzoli Museum until February 10, 2020. For the goldsmith's workshop, Daniela Repetto, professor at the Ambrosianan Goldsmith School in Milan, will make wax castings of the particular decorative knot that adorns the dress of the Mona Lisa. Paolo Santambrogio, master cabinetmaker, will help participants to build a wooden dodecahedron, a Platonic solid much loved by the Tuscan artist. Finally, Ivana Tubaro and Claire Billotte, calligraphers who collaborate with important brands, will guide participants to the creation of greeting cards or short quotes, using a quill pen and walnut hull ink.
