The Museo della Barca Lariana has been reopened

After 18 years of closure, the Lake Como International Museum of Vintage Boats has recently reopened its doors to the public. The museum was originally founded in 1982 by GianAlberto Zanoletti, a great collector and enthusiast of boats and nautical memorabilia. In 1977 Zanoletti bought an old spinning mill and founded the Raccolta Barca Lariana association, for the purpose of safeguarding and passing on the historical local naval traditions. Now the premises are ready to welcome the museum, which boasts a nautical heritage unparalleled in the world: 200 rowing boats and gondolas, 100 outboard motorboats and 100 inboard motorboats, as well as 80 sailboats, not to mention the oldest public boat on Lake Como. Thanks to this unique collection of works, documents and objects, the exhibition center tells the history of boating in the Lake Como area in the last few centuries.
