The catalog Vetro, artisti e designer milanesi 1976-2023 is out

More than a book a "still image" of 50 years of Milanese culture. It is the catalog Vetro, artisti e designer milanesi 1976-2023 (My Monkey editions), which followed the exhibition (Sept. 27-Oct. 25, 2023) held in Milan's L'Originale space. It presents works by artists of different backgrounds, some of which have become icons of 20th-century art others, previously unseen, represent current modernity. The intriguing and ironic subtitle, Quando le collezioni nascevano a tavola; summarizes the seductive attraction of starting a collection and being fascinated by a work, to the point of welcoming it into one's life: an encounter between dialoguing artistic sensibilities. And that meeting place of art lovers, artists, designers and works, was the Galleria Scaletta, in Porta Genova, which became, beyond the pairing with the excellent restaurant, a meeting point, acquaintances and exchanges. Naturally, almost by chance, there were artistic creations or of the most advanced design, often alternative, with the intent to "dare," but above all to involve. For this reason, the definition "In Milan there is the Scala and the Scaletta, and that was enough" summed up the gallery's intent. The idea for the exhibition and publication was the brainchild of Sandro Pezzoli, who was the fulcrum of the Scaletta and the architect of the cultural dynamism and experimentation that distinguished Milan. Later the Scaletta, which became "Scaletta di vetro", maintained the innovative vibrancy, introducing glass works by artists, American and South American, unknown at the time-a further step beyond innovation.
