Monarchs at the table. Banquets at the great Italian Courts is the title of the current exhibition in the evocative rooms of the Rooms of the Arts on the second floor of the Turin Palace. There are more than 200 works including paintings and table furnishings that illustrate the customs and refinement in the ritual of the setting of the Italian princely and royal courts from the 16th century until the Savoy reign in Rome. The paintings, but also the numerous objects, precious for the materiai used and for the conception entrusted to artists and the executive expertise of the most skilled artisans, illustrate the variety of tableware, food, and the arrangement of diners in courts of different cultures, but all united by manifesting a luxurious everyday life that exalted beauty and awe.
