An exhibition of children for children, and more, features 30 works, including sculptures of deities in childhood and toys from a millennium ago. All the works are placed at a low height to establish a dialogue between children of the imperial age and contemporary visitors. The exhibition at the Uffizi Gallery recounts various stages of the daily life of children who lived in ancient Rome: birth, school, games, animals, fears, curiosities. Among the various works are a statue of Mercury with a Bacchus child, an ivory doll and a gladiator with modular accessories, the ancestor of today's action figures. The exhibition makes use of special didactic apparatus, with simplified captions, but also comic strips, games and a video that illustrates the customs of those "ancient" children.
