The Museum of Eighteenth-Century Venice at Ca' Rezzonico, a seventeenth-century palace acquired in 1935 by the Municipal Administration of Venice, reopens after restoration work in the reception spaces on the ground floor that anticipate the visit with a striking room overlooking the Grand Canal. The collection, which includes paintings but also objects and furnishings from various city palaces, documents daily life in Venice in the 18th century, allowing an immersion in the art and taste of one of the most intriguing centuries of city art, which welcomed and combined European and Oriental motifs, reworked in a singular declination. The furnishings are examples of fine lagoon craftsmanship: from the large lumiera (lock) with arms embellished with pendants in the shape of flowers, fruit and multicolored animals, to the "Green Lacquer" room, with emerald green and golden pastille furniture, to the everyday objects of the "Alcova," to the evocative reconstruction of an ancient apothecary's shop with ceramics and glassware from local manufactures.
