The Ragghianti Foundation of Lucca hosts, until 6 January 2020, the exhibition Bernardo Bellotto 1740. Viaggio in Toscanathat brings together works, paintings and drawings by this 18th-century Venetian artist, many of which are unknown or rarely presented to the public. The exhibition presents paintings that document views of Tuscan cities, particularly Lucca, but also Florence and Livorno, realized during the journey made by the young artist Bellotto in 1740. On display is the cameraobscuraused by Canaletto, preserved at the Museo Correr in Venice, made of wood, glass and a mirror, a unique tool capable of combining the principles of optical science with craftsmanship.
