To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Giacomo Balla's birth, the artist's house in Rome is open to the public in Via Oslavia, 39B, in the Della Vittoria district, where the artist lived from 1929 to 1958. The house, which remained closed for over 30 years, represents a synthesis of Futurist art, expressed with total creative freedom in every space of the house. Furniture, objects, clothes, tapestries and daily furnishings express with great playfulness and irony the stylistic features of futurism, full of geometric patterns, intense colors, unusual and unpredictable lines and volumes. In parallel, the National Museum of XXI Century Arts (MAXXI) presents (Gallery 5) the exhibition, Casa Balla. Dalla casa all'universo e ritorno (Balla's House. From the House to the Universe and Back), on view until November 21, with works that were originally part of the house. Among these is the door with tapestry of the red Studiolo, now part of the Laura and Lavinia Biagiotti collection, an emblem of modernity and dynamism.
