Roosters, Hens, Hoopoes and Owls at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan

A selection of glass birds, real and fantastic at the same time, created by the artist from Friuli Toni Zuccheri, are presented in an aviary, a suggestive setting curated by Lissoni Associati of Milan. The sculptures, composed of different materials - bronze, wood, stone, but also dried leaves - evoke the nature and the passion of the artist for animals, to the point of transforming them into a symbolic abstraction. On those natural, often recycled supports, that bear the signs of time and wear, are inserted multi-colored glass feathers, realized with various techniques appropriate to the anatomical parts of the birds. For Zuccheri, glass was the subject of constant experimentation on the material and on color variations, which began in the mid-1950s in collaboration with the Venini glassworks and continued over the years in other well-known Italian furnaces.
