The art of wooden inlay in the year 2000, tradition and innovation

15/07/2022 - 15/07/2022

The Alessandro and Alma Fiorentino Foundation sponsored a national study day on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Museobottega della Tarsialignea in Sorrento, focusing on the art of marquetry in Italy in the 2000s. During this important event, issues that have long affected the wood inlay sector, from the artistic training of future inlayers to the marketing of the inlaid work, were highlighted. The event, with the participation of the Quinta Parete Association of Verona, offered reflections on the recovery of a market that can ensure that the artistic nature of inlaid products is properly valued. The conference was accompanied by an Exhibition at the Museobottega della Tarsialignea, which can be visited until August 30, 2022, containing the works of several master inlayers active in Italy. Also on display within the museum is the modern collection of inlaid furniture and objects signed by well-known international designers including Alessandro Mendini, Ugo La Pietra, Filippo Alison, Paolo Portoghesi, William Sawaya and David Palterer. Accompanying the modern collection is a workshop for teaching marquetry. www.museomuta.it
