The Mosaic School of Friuli celebrates its first centenary

To celebrate the anniversary a book and many initiatives

Inaugurated in 1922, the School represented an absolute novelty. The objective was to maintain the ancient tradition of craftsmanship, rooted in the territory of Friuli, by training young people with technical and cultural skills in the secrets of this ancient art, so much so that it attracted students from all over the region. The Mosaic School, which has become an international center, celebrated its centenary with the publication of a volume and, this year, will be launching various initiatives: from visits to centers of ancient mosaic tradition, such as Aquileia and Sequals, to a large exhibition in Lyon, in October. In the future, in addition to collaboration with the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, the “Cittadella del mosaico” will be launched, a center for the promotion and research of mosaic art in a balanced balance between tradition and design.
