The great Venetian craftsmanship at Splendid Venice – Starhotels Collezione

Among the events of Homo Faber in the City, the exhibition Splendid Dialogues, from April 10 to May 1

Venetian high craftsmanship is back on display in the exclusive and elegant spaces of the Splendid Venice – Starhotels Collezione, this time with Splendid Dialogues, a precious journey to discover Venetian high craftsmanship inspired by the theme of the “marvelous relations” between Venice and the Empire of the Rising Sun, which is part of the calendar of Homo Faber in Città, the exhibition that invades the Serenissima on the occasion of the second edition of Homo Faber, the long-awaited event dedicated to contemporary art crafts promoted by Michelangelo Foundation at the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, which in turn this year looks at the fascinating connections between Europe and Japan.

The refined exhibition in the luxurious hotel overlooking the Venetian canals a few steps from Piazza San Marco, will therefore be from April 10 until May 1.

The splendid kimono and precious lampas silk fabric created by Rubelli for Armani; the Madama Butterfly stage dresses by Atelier Nicolao; the original double-sided masks from Nō theater and the Commedia dell’Arte created by the Bottega dei Mascareri; the precious Venetian-themed furnishing objects and totemic lamps created by the skilled hands of the artisans of Lunardelli Venezia and Salviati are just some of the works on display in the elegant rooms of the hotel. Murano’s centuries-old glassmaking tradition is well represented by the works of Micheluzzi, Carlo Moretti, NasonMoretti and Salviati, or by Attombri‘s vases inspired by Japanese natural elements, as well as Barbini Specchi Veneziani‘s mirrors decorated with japoniserie; finally, the fascinating and poetic art of Japanese paper boxes and origami by Stefania Giannici of Paperoowl, together with the evocative iconography of Fallani Venezia‘s art prints. A small treasure chest in the heart of the lagoon city, for a stop in the most refined beauty.

The exhibition is part of the project La Grande Bellezza – The Dream Factory: an important initiative of patronage in favor of high Italian craftsmanship, promoted by Starhotels thanks to the strong will and commitment of its President and CEO Elisabetta Fabri, realized in collaboration with Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, OMA Associazione Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte and Gruppo Editoriale.

The ‘know-how’ is the beating heart of every company, that heritage of knowledge built over time thanks to one of its most important resources: people. The culture of the product, the drive for innovation, the constant search for quality in the territory come out of the companies and contaminate the markets. Tangible proof of this are the precious pieces that we have chosen to exhibit on this occasion at the Splendid Venice, which has always been a place dedicated to welcoming and enhancing local art and craftsmanship” said Salvatore Pisani. General Manager of the hotel and President of the Tourism and Services Section of Confindustria Venice and Rovigo.
