The story of Micromega begins in 2000, with an innovative patent registered by the founder and inventor Roberto Carlon. Having trained as an optician at his father’s shop, driven by the desire to create a sleek, lightweight and durable product and, above all, the result of manual skill, he distanced himself from the traditional approach to eyewear and developed his own personal idea of eyeglasses. Micromega Boutique was started in 2003, between the Accademia and San Marco, on one of Venice’s best-known fashion streets. But the beating heart behind the business is the workshop, where craftsmanship and technology combine to create unique models in terms of material and design and which have become a favourite with celebrities such as Elton John, Yōko Ono, Norman Foster and Emma Thompson.
