EventsVenice and the American Glass Studio, this is the title of the exhibition in progress at "Le Stanze del Vetro", on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, until January 10, 2021. 133 glass works by 60 artists, American and Venetian, are presented, comparing modernity and tradition, experimentation, carried out with the most consolidated Murano techniques, over a period of time from the 1960s to the present day. An extraordinary impact is offered by the work Laguna Murano Chandelier (1996) by Dale Chihuly, created in Murano by Venetian artists Lino Tagliapietra and Pino Signoretto, both active for long periods in America, at the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle. It is an example of how American culture and Venetian tradition have blended together in an extraordinary harmony of technical solutions, figurative content and constant chromatic research.
