Relive The Ancient, Building The Modern, opened in mid-December 2019, and in its time scheduled until May 6 but interrupted by the pandemic and now visible again until July 20, pays homage to the greatness of the Renaissance painter, able to combine classical quotations with modern perspective experimentation, combined with careful observation of the details of objects and handicrafts of the time. An example is offered by the fresco in the Bridal Chamber, in the Ducal Palace of Mantua, reproduces exactly the shape of the clothes, the fabrics, the brocades woven with golden filaments, the embossed leather curtains and coloured linings, the fashionable headdresses, the carpets: all details that document the daily customs of the sophisticated court of the Gonzaga family that, in the middle of the 15th century, made use of selected artisan workshops.
