The restored tapestry based on a work by Raphael

The Ceramics Museum of Mondovì will host - until 15 March 2020 - the exhibition Le tramedi Raffaello.Il restauro dell’arazzo Madonna del Divino Amore del Museo Pontificio di Loreto(Raphael's Weavings. The restoration of the Madonna del Divino Amore tapestry from the Pontifical Museum of Loreto) which anticipates the upcoming celebrations to be dedicated to the artist. The delicate restoration was carried out by the Centro Conservazione e Restauro “La Venaria Reale (Conservation and Restoration Center of "La Venaria Reale"), in agreement with the Fondazione CRC (Cuneo). The work, which depicts the Madonna and Child, St. Anne and St. John, was part of a series of tapestries made in Brussels which was to become the property of Pope Alexander VIII Ottoboni, and was later donated by his heirs to the Sanctuary of Loreto. The restoration allows viewers to get to know "up close" the secrets of the weaving art, color and materials used, based on the famous work by Raphael.
