Nicolò Morales, “Armonia Mediterranea” (“Mediterranean Harmony”)

The solo exhibition of ceramic artisan-artist Nicolò Morales is currently underway at the Diocesan Museum of Caltagirone. Because of his color-blindness, the Maestro "does not see colors, but feels them inside"; this situation has led this artist to achieve unprecedented and evocative results in which the wide chromatic range of his works is harmoniously combined with manual know-how. The subject of the exhibition is the Mediterranean, seen through its infinite variety of fish: the exhibition presents installations created by Morales depicting fish and fanciful birds, shells, fins and other elements belonging to the marine world. On walls or floors, in these works heads are separated from tails and bodies, a reference to the constant tension between appearing and the need to hide. "The missing part is ideally inside the surface - explains Morales - because in this society we all want to emerge and, at the same time, we all feel the need to flee into a universe which, most of the time, is not ours.
