Six fashionable gowns of the Urbino court in the 15th century are presented in a room of the Appartamento degli Ospiti in the Ducal Palace, in the exhibition Quando vedranno i rich vistimenti. Two sumptuous gowns are inspired by those worn by Federico and Battista Sfoza in the diptych painted by Piero della Francesca preserved at the Uffizi Galleries, while the other four, two men's and two women's, are faithfully drawn from Renaissance models, following careful research conducted on the pictorial images, with particular attention to the fabrics, cut and preciousness of the decorations and accessories. Elegance and refinement were motifs of constant interest at the court of Duke Federico da Montefeltro, considered symbols of prestige and distinction, as is evident from the works featured in the larger exhibition Federico da Montefeltro and Francesco di Giorgio.
