The Japanese Renaissance: nature in the paintings on screens from 15th to 17th century

Through a selection of 40 large paintings of landscapes and nature in the classic size of sliding screens, the exhibition curated by Rossella Menegazzo showcases the golden age of the Japanese artistic production between the Muromachi period and the beginning of the Edo era (15th-17th century). The evident characteristics are the evocative, monochrome  painting style similar to Chinese Zen art, as well as the Japanese style, defined by a gold background and broad areas of color suitable for decorating large living quarters, typical of aristocratic houses and castles.
