For Lorenzo Rossi, it all began by going with a friend to a workshop to have a guitar repaired. And it was love at first sight: he decided to pursue that craft as his path in life, firstly, at the Civic School of Lutherie, and then by working as an apprentice in illustrious luthiers’ workshops. He now divides his time between teaching string instrument-making and working in his workshop and is considered to be a master in his field. By studying eighteenth-century books, he has created a “secret recipe” based on olive oil, amber and pigments to give the instruments a special finish. He was awarded as the world’s third best cello maker.
