Ascione

The artistic processing of coral is, in Torre del Greco, a cen- turies-old tradition, whose history and fame have been inter- twined with the name of the Ascione family since 1855. They started the city’s oldest goldsmith’s shop, famous for its so- phisticated ‘red gold’ jewelry, but also in mother-of-pearl, hard stones and precious metals and for its cameos. Starting from 1934, Giovanni Ascione brought the workshop to the peak of its splendor. While the workshop is still located in Torre del Greco, the prestigious headquarters of Ascione 1855 is based in Naples, on the second floor of Galleria Umberto I over- looking the San Carlo Theater. Here, in addition to the show- room, is a museum, which goes over the company’s history through original documents and the most significant creations (over 300), from the 19th century to modern and contemporary works, with a space devoted to the processing of cameos.
