Gold has a thousand properties and uses. It requires, however, great expertise in order to work it to perfection and obtain ultra-thin gold leaf, the best way to fully exploit its potential in many fields. This is what Mario Berta Battiloro does, by carrying on an old family tradition dating back to 1926. At his historic workshop in Cannaregio, master Marino Menegazzo, with the assistance of his daughters, works gold, silver and other precious metals exclusively by hand, in order to keep change to a minimum, which would be, instead, inevitable by using machinery. These very pure leaves are employed in the world of art, design and for edible use to add a truly unique touch to dishes and cocktails, and also in cosmetics, as gold offers many beneficial effects.
